You've read the stories in the newspaper, and if you know anyone in school, you have seen the problem first-hand: kids all over the country are suffering from devastating school budget cuts.
Sports programs have been hit especially hard: an estimated $1.5 billion was cut from school sports budgets during the 2010-2011 school year. This was on top of about $2 billion the year before. (Thanks to our ace intern, Lauren Stanley for the research).
This campaign, ThankTheCoaches.org, is intended to encourage everyone to thank the coaches who helped us so much, while also spreading the word of ClassWish.org, which provides an easy, efficient and tax-efficient way for coaches to get the equipment today's young people need.
We are also launching ThankTheTeachers.org.
We hope you will thank your former coaches and teachers. We also hope you will help us help more coaches, teachers and students, simply by spreading the word of these campaigns. We provide some easy ways to do that on the Share page of this site. Send an email, display a banner, post a flyer, etc. Please spread the word to others who care: K-12 students, college students, and parents.
Would you or someone you know want to take a leadership role in promoting these campaigns at your school or college? We are looking for Campus Reps. What a great way to do good and build your resume.
While you are at it, why not visit ClassWish.org, yourself, and click to show your support of favorite schools and teachers. You might even want to donate a few dollars to help make a difference.
Do you have ideas on helping spread the word of these campaigns? We would love to hear from you!
